Winter 2012 News

Welcome to the Little Ninjas Program. I have a few housekeeping items to go through.

Remember, we meet at the Oxford Grange Hall on Rt 67 Classes are held on WEDNESDAYS during school hours as the program is only open to Preschool and Kindergarteners.

We will go by the Oxford School Calendar. Hence, if there is no school for vacation etc, there is no Little Ninjas. Also, if school is closed or let out early due to weather, there is no Little Ninjas with the exception of graduation. So please listen to the radio for these items. Classes will be made up inn the form of combined classes or extra days. EXCEPTION: Graduation ceremony will not be cancelled unless there is a blizzard as it is difficult to reschedule. Class dates are as follows: 1/4, 1/11, 1/18, 1/25, 2/1, 2/8, 2/15, 2/29, 3/7, 3/13 Graduation day (TUESDAY).  NOTE: There is no class scheduled for Feb. 22 as that was supposed to be vacation. If we need to use it to make-up a class, we will.

Registration of $85 is due at the first class and can be made payable to Oxford Park & Rec. If you have students in more that one program, discounts apply. Click on "Classes" tab and scroll to bottom. Due to Park & Rec policy, there are no refunds for missed classes or canceling once the program has begun.

Our Little Ninjas graduation is going to be on Tuesday March 13th at Oxford Grange Hall at 3:15 and will include all Little Ninjas.   There is a $15 grading fee due before the day of graduation. Graduation will be followed by a potluck snack reception downstairs. (I’ll explain more later)

Some parents have asked what is in store after this 10-week session. It isn’t simply over for the Little Ninjas, which is why we have a graduation belt ceremony. The program will consistently focus on the 8 Major skill areas each session, but utilize different games, karate techniques, board breaking, and gradually get more challenging for them so that they do not become bored. As they go into 1st grade, they will join  the Kickin’ Kids Program.

During the first session of Little Ninjas, I don’t require the students to wear a uniform. However, if they are going to continue in the program, which progresses for them each session, they will need a uniform. These help the students build a sense of pride and self-respect. Uniforms are $30 and can be purchased through be or your can look at the community board for a gently used one.

I am always open to feedback, questions, and concerns. Please don’t hesitate to call me or talk with me after class about anything. If your Ninja is absent from class, please leave me a message or an email so I know everything is all right. Please give me your email address if you have one! Communication is a key factor in having a great program for children!!

I know this will be a great session and I look forward to working with you and your Little Ninja!!
